Professional History

Upon graduating from Bowling Green State University in 1981, I began teaching in the Tipp City Exempted Village Schools.  I have taught vocal music in grades 6-12 and also served as assistant band director for eight years.  I currently teach at the Tippecanoe Middle and High Schools.  In 1996 I began adjudicating in OMEA
.

Goals

As a teacher I am continually striving to learn new ways to teach choral music.  I feel it is important for all choral students to learn how to read music so they may participate in and enjoy listening to choral ensembles for the rest of their lives.

Choir Background

When I first began teaching in the Tipp City Exempted Village Schools, the choir program began with one choir at the High School, and one combined seventh and eighth grade choir consisting of twelve students.  In my twenty-ninth year of teaching, the program has grown to include two high school choirs, and three middle school choirs- enrolling nearly 200 students.

The high school choirs have experienced much success in the OMEA Adjudicated Events having received superior ratings at the state level nine out of the last ten years.

In the spring of 2004, the Eighth Grade Choir earned the "Grand Sweepstakes Award" at the Kings Island Invitational which means that the Eighth Grade Choir received the highest scores out of all the jr. high and middle school choirs over all six weekends that the contest was held!

Both the middle school and high school choirs are respected as quality choral programs across the State of Ohio.
