About Mrs. Thompson:
Education and Background:
I grew up in the country outside of the tiny village of Pitsburg, OH where I attended Franklin Monroe schools, graduating in 2010. When I was in Middle School, I first felt that I was called into the field of Special Education. In high school I had many opportunities to spend time and tutor in classrooms for students with learning disabilities, and I enjoyed it immensely. I attended Wright State University and graduated in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Education for Middle Childhood Intervention Specialist. I then went on to earn my Masters in Education for Learning and Technology from Western Governor's University in January 2016.
I married my wonderful husband on August 9, 2014. We welcomed our first child on July 25, 2019--a sweet baby girl named Savannah Maelene, and I just love being her mama! She is looking much more like a little girl than a baby these days. We also have a 4-year old, 80-lb goldendoodle named Sampson whom we welcomed into our family during the summer of 2016, and he was most certainly our first baby!
In my free time, you will find me reading to, chasing, or playing with my sweet girl, taking walks with Sampson and Savannah and sometimes my mom, swimming with my family in my mom's pool, shopping, crafting (usually hair bows or headbands for Savannah or my nieces, bandanas or bow ties for Sampson, or decor for my home or the classroom),  snapping or editing photos, pinning ideas for the classroom, or spending time with friends and family. I especially enjoy spending time with my nieces and nephews, and cherish my role as an aunt to them!
Why I'm Here and Contact Info:
I am extremely excited to be a part of the Tipp City family and continue in the seventh year of my teaching career as an 8th Grade Intervention Specialist at TMS. I will be working primarily in the areas of Reading, Language Arts, and Math. I will also be coaching Power of the Pen (4th year). It is my passion to work with my colleagues to provide the best possible education for all students here at TMS. It is my utmost concern that students are learning to their full potential and growing in all areas of life. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail or the phone number listed above. My extension is 2727; however, unfortunately, I do not have a phone with my extension attached to it, so I do not have the opportunity to check my voicemail frequently; however, I understand and appreciate that some situations are best handled over the phone or by making an appointment to meet in person. If you leave a voicemail on my extension, please follow up with a quick e-mail to let me know and I'll be sure to listen and respond in a timely manner. Typically, the best time to reach me is either between 7:10 and 7:30 am or 2:40 and 3:30 pm. I am looking forward to beginning another year of working with the students, staff, parents, and community of Tipp City Schools.
