Bachelors of Science in Business Administration: Sport Management from Robert Morris University Masters in Educational Leadership from Wright State University

Mr. Joel Slyman

Hello and welcome to my page!  This is my third year teaching at Tippecanoe Middle School; 5th year teaching overall. I graduated from Robert Morris University with a bachelors in Sports Management.  After graduating, I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2013 and worked for the Tulsa Shock, WNBA team.  After 3 years of working for the Shock, I finally realized what I wanted to do; teach and coach.  I spent the last 3 years in Tulsa teaching physical education and coaching middle school soccer and basketball and high school soccer for McLain in Tulsa Public Schools.  While teaching in Tulsa, I completed my masters in Educational Leadership from Wright State University.

I am ecstatic to be in Tipp City because I spent my entire childhood here and graduated from Tipp in 2009!

As far as my life away from school goes, I enjoy exercising/running (currently training for a half marathon in the spring) hanging out with friends, concerting, going to/playing/and watching sports and traveling!  I have been fortunate enough to be able to travel to Germany, Italy, Croatia, Belize, and Guatemala.
I also got married in September!
I am a diehard fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams, specifically the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins.  I am involved in sports here at Tipp; I am the Junior Varsity Coach for the Boys Soccer team and the 8th Grade Boys Basketball Coach
Please do not hesitate to contact me at any point during the year, either with questions / comments about your child's work, or simply to say hi.  Thanks!
