Web Filter Certificate for Wireless Networks

  • If you do not have this certificate installed when using Tipp City School's network, you may not be able to access certain websites like Google, Yahoo, and Bing.  The certificate is already pre-installed on all district-owned devices.

    For installing on Microsoft Windows: 

    • Click on the content filter certificate at the bottom of the page, to download it to your device.
    • Once the download completes, go to the download location and find the file named "iboss-1.ad.tippcity.k12.oh.us" and double click on it.  You may get a warning asking if you want to open this file, if so click "Open".
    • A window will open displaying the certificate information, click on "Install Certificate" in the window.
    • In the Certificate Import Wizard dialog click on "Local Machine" and click "Next".
    • In the next window, click on "Place all certificates in the following store" and click the browse button.   In the window that opens click on "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" and click "OK".
    • Click the "Next" button. 
    • Click "Finish".   You should see a message indicating that the import was successful.

    For installing on an iPhone/iPad: 

    • Click on the content filter certificate at the bottom of the page, to download it to your device.
    • A pop up will appear that you are trying to download a profile. Select Allow.
    • Once the profile is downloaded, go to Settings > General > Profiles and select the Downloaded Profile "iboss-1.ad.tippcity.k12.oh.us"
    • An "Install Profile" screen will appear, click on the "Install" button on the right.  Enter your passcode if required.
    • A "Warning" screen will appear, click on "Install" on the top right corner. And then "Install" at the bottom of the screen.
    • You should now see that the certificate is trusted.   Click on "Done" on the top right corner.
    • Finally, go to Settings > General > About > Certificate Trust Settings and enable the iboss-1.ad.tippcity.k12.oh.us certificate.

    For installing on Android: 

    • Click on the content filter certificate at the bottom of the page, to download it to your device.
    • Go to "Settings", "Security", and "Install from Device Storage".
    • You can use the name "Tipp City Schools" and make sure Credential use says "VPN and apps".
    • Once you have it installed you can view the Certificate by clicking "Security", "Trusted Credentials", and then "User".

    For installing on Mac OSX:

    • Click on the content filter certificate at the bottom of the page, to download it to your device.
    • Double-click on the .crt file and Keychain Access will open with the Add Certificate window. 
    • Choose the System keychain and Add. You will be prompted for your administrator password.
    • Once loaded, scroll in the System keychain and select the .crt.  Double-click on the .crt and there will be a pop-up window for the certificate.
    • Expand the Trust section and choose "Always Trust" for "When using this certificate" pull-down.
    • Finally, close the pop-up window and you will be prompted for your administrator password.
    • Provide the administrator password again and the System keychain will be updated. 

    For installing in Mozilla Firefox:

    • Click on the content filter certificate at the bottom of the page, to download it to your device.
    • Open Mozilla Firefox, click Open Menu, Options, Advanced, Certificates, and View Certificates.
    • Click the Authorities tab, and then click the import button.
    • Find the .crt file you downloaded and click Open.
    • Check the box next to Trust this CA to identify websites and click OK.

    For installing on Chromebooks: 

    • Click on the content filter certificate at the bottom of the page, to download it to your device.
    • Open the Chrome browser and type "chrome://settings/certificates" into the address bar.
    • Select Downloads to find the certificate file (you might have to change the file type to "All files").
    • Select the certificate file and click the Open button.
    • Check the options to "Trust this certificate for identifying websites".
    • Click the OK button.
