CORONA VIRUS UPDATE: Hi Friends! I wanted to let you know that I am creating lessons for students to work on at home. These lessons will be a mixture of pre-recorded and live video lessons posted on the Broadway Art Studio Facebook page via the link below. (If you do not have Facebook, you can still access the lessons via the link) I will post something on the Facebook page letting you know when the live lessons will be. The best way to get these updates and notifications is to go onto the Broadway Art Studio Facebook page and click "like" on the main page. (Please note that if you only "follow" the page, you will not get notifications, you must click "like" and then set notifications to "all posts" in order to be notified when new lessons are posted)
I have also had several emails regarding Seesaw. Unfortunately, Seesaw student accounts cannot be accessed from home at this time. The accounts are set up via a shared class QR code that students scan while at school since we use shared devices. That being said, I do hope to look into changing this in the future so that students can access their account from anywhere.
As always, I am available to you via email should you have any questions, comments, or concerned. I know we are in difficult and trying times, but I am here to support you as we work together to support our children. Please give all of my kids a big hug from me! I already miss seeing their smiling faces every day. ~~ Mrs. Walters
Hi! My name is Shelby Walters and I am the 2nd and 3rd grade art teacher at Broadway! Although this is my 3rd year at Broadway, this is my 6th year teaching in Tipp City, as I previously taught art at Nevin Coppock!
As a child, I was introduced to art at a very young age by my grandmother, whom was a painter. I also loved playing “school,” and helping my younger brother with his homework, so when it came time to choose my major, I knew exactly the profession I wanted to pursue. In 2008, I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education with a concentration in painting from Wright State University and in 2010, a Master’s Degree from Grand Canyon University in Secondary Education.
I first began teaching in 2009 at a small art museum in Springfield where I taught children from ages 2 to 12. From there, I moved to Dayton Public Schools, teaching Kindergarten to 6th grade. Although I love teaching children of all ages, I am very happy to be focusing on the primary grades, as they are new to education and are so eager to learn and explore!
Although I was born and raised in Springfield (Kenton Ridge Alumni), I currently live in Englewood with my husband Bret, our two daughters, Jonnah age 12 and Adalyn (Addy) age 9, and our 3 dogs, Lucy, Isabell, and Riley. Addy is attending L.T. Ball this year as a fourth grader!
Throughout the school year, please be sure to periodically check out our Broadway Art Studio facebook page! (The link is at the bottom of this message) Here, you will find various announcements from the art room, each art lesson, and how you can help continue our classroom discussions at home.
Looking forward to another great year!!
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at Broadway or via my email at firstname.lastname@example.org You can also send a message to the Broadway Art Facebook page as well!
