Bachelor of Arts, Masters of Education

Miss Alexis Gentry

I am so excited to begin this year.  I am looking forward to working with the great students at Tipp City High School.

This is the start of my 14th year in education and my sixth year at Tippecanoe High School.  I previously worked at Jefferson Township Schools working as an art teacher and an intervention specialist at the K-12 level.  I graduated high school from Vandalia Butler.  I have a bachelor's degree in Art History from the University of Dayton and a Masters of Education degree from the University of Dayton.

I love animals and have had dogs in the past but currently have one cat, Bella, who I adopted when she was a kitten. My interests are sports, cooking, music, art, traveling and reading. I love watching sports but I am passionate about hockey, football and baseball.  My favorite teams to root for are the University of Dayton Flyers, the Tennessee Volunteers, the Indianapolis Colts, the Cleveland Indians, the Minnesota Wild and the Detroit Red Wings. I love traveling to new places and I love exploring new places for their history and their art.

I currently work part time at the Dayton Art Institute as a workshop instructor.

I am very passionate about teaching and promoting the arts.  I have been doing a lot of research on the concept of an open art room and will be using many of the strategies I have learned in this process.  I am looking forward to teaching our students artistic behaviors and creative thinking skills that will help them in their lives.

This year I am the Art Club advisor, Interact co-advisor, National Art Honor Society advisor, Art with a heart advisor and I co-advise our Fashion Club.   I am excited to be able to help our students explore art and to help them discover and create great service projects for the community.
