Strong communication between home and school is an important factor in supporting student success. Beginning this school year, Tipp City Schools will introduce SchoolMessenger. This new communication platform will provide families with a more consistent, secure, and convenient way to stay connected with their child’s classroom and teachers.
SchoolMessenger provides teachers with a single reliable platform to share classroom updates, reminders, announcements, assignments, and other important information. Using one consistent communication system helps ensure families receive timely information while reducing confusion caused by multiple communication methods.
One of the key benefits of SchoolMessenger is that it helps ensure families receive timely and consistent information from their child’s teacher through a single communication platform. Whether a teacher is sharing a classroom reminder, an upcoming assignment, or an important announcement, parents can feel confident they are staying informed through clear, reliable updates.
Because SchoolMessenger communicates with PowerSchool, the district’s student information system, messages are automatically sent to the custodial parents and guardians using the contact information already on file. This helps improve communication while ensuring student information remains secure.
Additional information about SchoolMessenger, including account setup instructions and communication preferences, will be shared before the start of the school year. Families will receive a text message on August 5 inviting them to opt in to text messaging through SchoolMessenger. Families who would like to opt in before that date may simply text Y to 67587.
Downloading the SchoolMessenger app is optional. Families can receive SchoolMessenger messages without downloading the app. However, the app offers additional features, including managing communication preferences and reporting student absences through SafeArrival.
SchoolMessenger complements—rather than replaces—our existing district communication tools. District-wide news, newsletters, weather-related announcements, and emergency communications will continue to be shared through the district’s existing communication channels. At the same time, SchoolMessenger will become the primary platform for teacher-to-family classroom communication.
