Tipp City Schools celebrated an important construction milestone with a Topping Out Ceremony for the district’s new PK–8 school.
The recent ceremony marked the installation of a structural beam that Tipp City Schools students in grades K–8 signed the previous week. Their signatures are now a permanent part of the building many of them will attend.
“This building represents our commitment to our children and to their future,” Superintendent Aaron Moran said. “In the years ahead, thousands of students will walk through these doors. They will learn to read here, discover new talents and interests, make friends, be encouraged by teachers, celebrate accomplishments, and experience moments they will remember for the rest of their lives.”
The ceremony brought together district leaders, teachers, project partners, community members, and others who have helped move the project from plans on paper to the school now taking shape.
“Seeing that beam rise into place was an incredible moment,” Moran said. “It gave everyone there a chance to see just how far the project has come and to reflect on what this school will mean for our community in the years ahead.”
The ceremony also recognized the many people and organizations contributing to the project, including the Tipp City Schools Board of Education, the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, Garmann Miller, Shook Construction, project partners, and the skilled tradespeople working on site.
Construction continues to move forward throughout the building. Recent progress includes additional interior walls, ductwork and piping, roof insulation, exterior brickwork, rafters, and continued development of the front entrance and cafeteria. The third academic wing is also now connected to the stairwell on the east side of the structure.
The new school will serve Tipp City Schools students in grades K–8 and remains on schedule. The district continues to closely monitor the project budget as construction progresses.
The signed beam will remain a lasting symbol of the students at the heart of the project and the generations who will learn, grow, and create memories in the new school.
