The Ohio Academy of Science

Students from LT Ball Intermediate School, Tippecanoe Middle School, and Tippecanoe High School were among 132 students from Miami, Darke, Shelby, and Champaign Counties who competed in the Ohio Academy of Science Upper Miami Valley District Science Day held at Edison State Community College.

Several students from Tipp City Schools earned special awards and honors.

  • The team project by Tippecanoe Middle School students Aubrey Ernst and Audrey Jackson won the 1st place, $100 Southwest Ohio Water Environmental Association Award, and the 1st place $100 Troy Fish & Game Club Award in Environmental Sciences.  
  • LT Ball Intermediate student Kendall Escheman won the $100 Premier Health Award for Microbiology and the $250 Ohio Tuition Trust Authority-College Advantage 529 Savings Plan Scholarship.
  • LT Ball Intermediate student Wyatt Robbins earned the 2nd place, $100 BASF Creating Chemistry Award. 
  •  Tippecanoe High School student Amelia Campbell earned the 1st place, $200 BASF Award in Medicine & Health Sciences, and the $200 Fresh Eyes Editing Award for Best Abstract. 

Students exhibited independent research projects in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics which they worked on from September through February of this year. Students who complete and present a STEM project at a local science fair in their school or county event may qualify to compete at the District level.
