L.T. Ball Intermediate School students and staff are preparing for the annual Parade of Heroes. This meaningful Veterans Day tradition lets students honor veterans and active-duty military members while learning more about service, citizenship, and gratitude.

The Parade of Heroes will take place on Wednesday, November 11, at 11:00 AM. Veterans and active-duty military members are invited to participate in a drive-through procession at L.T. Ball Intermediate School, where students and staff, dressed in red, white, and blue, will line the school driveway to welcome and thank them.

Principal Kari Hake said the event is especially meaningful because it gives students a chance to put important lessons into action.

“This is such an important opportunity for our students,” Hake said. “They are not only learning about service and sacrifice, but they are also able to personally show their appreciation to the men and women who have served our country.”

The event also reflects L.T. Ball’s PBIS expectations of being respectful, being responsible, and demonstrating integrity. Students have been preparing for the parade through classroom conversations and activities that help them better understand the meaning of Veterans Day and the importance of recognizing those who have served.

For Hake, one of the most memorable parts of the event is seeing the response from the veterans and military members who participate.

“There is something very special about watching our students cheer, wave, and thank each person as they drive through,” Hake said. “Our participants truly enjoy the experience, and our students understand that their simple gestures of appreciation can mean a great deal. It is one of those events that brings our school community together in a very positive way.”

Veterans and active-duty military members are invited to attend, and families are encouraged to share the invitation with relatives, friends, and community members who have served or are currently serving.

The Parade of Heroes will begin at 11:00 AM on November 11 at L.T. Ball Intermediate School.
